Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!! Enough said, just back from the niece and nephew's house, i.e. borrowed kids since mine are old.  I did not steal too much candy and I taste tested the opened candy.  No razor blades or pins.

Cannon Beach Lighthouse

My Dad and I share an interest in Lighthouses.  We like to see the east coast and west coast Lighthouses.  This is an oil of this west coast lighthouse at Cannon Beach, Oregon.  Enjoy!

Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge engine

Today's artwork is a scratchboard of a Narrow Gauge engine 2-8-2 from the Colorado R.R. - the Denver, & Rio Grande Western.  This was an early experiment in scratchboard.  This is one of the ones which came together easily and surprised me.  So enjoy and feel free to ask me questions about anything I post.

Sea Lion sunning

I enjoy the way sea life utilize the manmade buoys for sunning and resting.  This watercolor is of a buoy up in the Northwest Pacific US.  It is always worth watching for what is hanging out on these navigational aids.  Enjoy!

Clark's Nutcracker

Today's oil is a Clark's Nutcracker.  He is a western bird.  I have always liked birds as they are the easiest wildlife to see and attract.  This one was seen in Yellowstone National Park.  Enjoy!

Poudre Canyon Aspen Gate- Pen & Ink

I like to make cards for holidays, birthdays, etc.  So I enjoy experiment with ink, watercolors, and pencils.  I find it makes my paintings better.  I saw this scene in the Poudre Canyon of Colorado.  I almost missed it.  I was on a photo safari with my Dad.  We stopped for the meadow photos and the gate registered in sub-consicious.  I went to walk away and then stopped and looked again and realized I almost missed this shot.  I have done this a couple different ways.  So enjoy!

Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my blog.  I create art for fun, enjoyment, and a lot of times to preserve my sanity.  I notice the interesting, strange and beautiful around me every day.  Then there is the interesting challenge of figuring out the method and process of capturing the moment or scene.  Above is a scene from Athens, Greece of the Acropolis.  This view took a while to come together.
