Thrushes and Fall Foliage

Tonight's activity, is more of the brush and marker work, Sumi style.  It is a little harder with markers to get a fade between colors but it is simpler than working with a brush.  Plus markers are more cat resistant since I sometimes have three cat helpers checking me out and trying to drink the watercolor brush water jar.

Butterflies and Blossoms

Butterflies and Blossoms in markers.  Happy Friday.  I like how the Butterfly turned ut but I think I need to use different markers for the blossom petals.

Tonight's work, I am not happy with the flowers so I will probably redo this one.  It needs to be improved.  Good art requires practice and experiments this has potential but needs some tweaks.

This is tonight's artwork, more along the line of the Japanese Sumi style.  Its with black ink and markers.

Bamboo and Blossoms

More of the work with ink pen and markers.  I have been using the brush pen for the black lines and colored markers for everything else.  It's drawing/brush practice.

Even Better Tree branch Blossoms

Happy Friday, I decided color was in order to make a better tree branch and made it a Cherry Blossom tree branch with ink pen, grey marker and two colors of pink markers.

So another attempt at Tree Branch with Blossoms, Cherry Blossoms.  I like this one better than last night's post.  More Black ink brush with Grey markers.

Tree Blossom Branch

I used an ink brush pen, and two different colors of grey marker to draw this branch with blossoms. No bad for a sick day from work.  This is the thing making it a better day.

Chrysanthemum - Ink and Marker

I tried something new.  I worked on this Black Ink and Grey marker in the style of Japanese Ink work of Chrysanthemum blossom.

Tulip Spring and Windmill - final (mostly)

I think I am mostly done with the Tulips and Windmill.  I might let this rest and make some small adjustments.  This was a fun painting which mostly went together with out a lot of problems or issues.  It is 11 inches by 14 inches, so one of my bigger oil paintings in a while.

Happy Birthday, Sophia!

Today is my niece's birthday, so Happy Birthday Sophia.  She is going to Africa soon so I think these sketches of the welcoming committee are a pretty good card.

I usually draw when I am on flights.  I am captive for the length of the flight and it is a good way to make the time go by.  This is a pencil sketch.
