Long day today, so I just worked on these head shot sketches to include facial muscle sketches done in pencil.

More face sketches

I am alternating nights.  Tonight I drew faces from Loomis.   Tomorrow I will return to painting.  So I whipped these out.  I need to keep working on the basic skills.  I will need to keep repeating skill practice between painting drawing and other things.  It needs to be an endless process of competition against yourself.

Portsmouth Island, North Carolina

With this series of photos you can see how I develop a painting from block-in to refinement.  While not done, I like how this is advancing.  I need to finish the wave action and to sort out the green vegetation on the barrier island.   This is an oil painting.

Monday Night Faces

After a day of work, I decided to draw this evening, so I have been practicing the quick sketch of faces from the Andrew Loomis Book.  This is part of the practice of 10,000 hours.  So enjoy it.

Sunset over the Caribbean

So not a lot of artwork this weekend but I did start on this sunset painting.  This is a good start but I am working on being more subtle so I will have to add some glazes to this painting to get all the color complexity I want.

Not the most exciting but Work needs to be done

The title line says it all.  I am trying to work on quick sketches and same size sketching of images out of an Andrew Loomis book to work on basic skills.

Drawing work

The development of art skills, like anything else requires work on the basics and I have relooped back to work on basics.  This is basic skills from Andrew Loomis, an artist and instructor from the 1930s.  He is considered a classic instructor and a brilliant writer of art books.  So I am going to draw everything he recommends to get my skills better, when I am not painting.
