Sugar Maple Sketch

Tonight is a pencil sketch from the weekend.  I had the Hell commute tonight because of an accident on the beltway.  I new record of stupidity, the 4 hour commute.  So no artwork tonight just dinner a post and to bed.  Hopefully, I can get some real work done this weekend.  I use lead pencils with dark lead, 8B and 9B for the darks and an HB medium dark pencil with a blender and a kneadable eraser to get the lighter sections inn this sketch.

Pagoda, Monument, and Cherry Blossoms update

The commission for the Pagoda, Washington Monument and Cherry Blossoms is almost finished.  The water still needs some work, the blossoms need some highlights, and some small details need to be added to the pagoda to give it shape and depth.  It will be finished by the end of the weekend.

Happy Birthday, Tiffany!

Today is Tiffany's birthday, the oldest daughter.  She loves her Sci-Fi, comic book characters, and video games.  So here is a Bat Girl sketch for her.  Personalized with red hair, Blue eyes, and Doc Martins boots just like she likes them.

Dry Fly - Royal Wulff

This is the block-in of an experiment oil study of a Dry Fly Fishing Fly.  I have put in the basic colors and will add fur, fuzz, and texture to make it more realistic.

Sunset over the Bay - Sketch

Tonight I blocked in a sunset study of the sun setting over the Chesapeake Bay.  This is a small 5 x7 oil study.  I will need to add a lot more depth to the sky and the water.

Brook Trout - Watercolor Pencils

My Dad had hand and wrist surgery last week, so he won't be fishing for a bit.  I sent him to this Brook Trout as a Get Well card.   I used Watercolor pencils to lay out the colors and then I used a brush and water to blend and intensify the colors.  I used an ink pen to outline and add the necessary detail.  I figured he needed something to cheer him up until he can get back out there.
